Return of the Dead (college students)

My dear Hannah and Justine
So maybe I've been conspicously absent for a while. But don't worry. I come bearing excuses.
Maybe its because of the shitload of reading I have these days. Seriously, classical mythology is not all its cracked up to be. Lectures, lectures, and abstract thought, compounded by A LOT of reading.

Or maybe I can blame it on choir. Hannah surely can attest to this. This past Saturday we sang with the Kalamazoo Symphony.Believe me, i'm glad its over. We had HOURS of rehearsal last week. I'm still not sure it was worth it. The concert went wonderfully, and the piece we sang "Te Deum" by Latvian composer Ugis Praulins has grown on me, but the hours spent in the Alto section are enough to drive a girl insane.

Or maybe its because I finished my sweater.

Thank goodness. Took me long enough. I know you can't see it, and this is my fault for using the yarn, but there is the most beautiful cable taken out of Elisabeth Lavold's "Viking Patterns" down the front of this self designed raglan sleeve sweater. I wore it yesterday and I proud to say, it fits. Look at that tapered waist. It may not be slimming, but it is warm, soft, and does not resemble a paper bag like some of my past sweater efforts.

So there. I'm back.
Next up, the amazing adventures of Madam Defarge, in scarf form. Curious?

My turn

After thinking about all that has gone down in less than the past week, I am glad for most of MY drama to be done with. I don't want to have it ever again. SERIOUSLY! But our suite definately needs to talk. Majorly. But the important thing, is that me and Justine don't have a beef. Though that sounds really good right now (food, not drama). Sometimes knitting is what brings people together, and can split them apart. Literally. Last wednesday is when the suite drama started because of the knitting group (the sweat shop or the Kollege Knitters), and somehow because we were all present yesterday, I feel that we were brought together again. Now Josh on the other hand is still being very childish. And I almost think that we need to have the suite meet with the guys. Maybe even with everyone that comes into our suite? I don't know too much thinking for this early. But it soo isn't that early.
I am also very glad that this has been a long weekend, and that I was able to spend lots of time with Derek. And knit lots, I feel that the hat is going to be done today. Which would make me very happy. And I need to work on that blanket, and the scarf, and start a sweater. The sweater I think is going to be my downfall. I really truely hope not. I am excited about the yarn I am going to use. It is called pumpkin patch from Knit picks. It IS AWESOME!
Peace,
HK

back at k

Hannah, Catherine ~

Is it weird to anyone else that we're at school already? While all our high school friends are gallivanting in our respective homes (my friends are eating sushi in Detroit... so jealous!) we have to deal with all that jazz.. literally in my case, with History of Jazz, Physics I, and Intermediate Spanish. It's good to be back in the sweatshop though.

It would be even nicer if we could get our knitting group off the ground, though. I don't know how we should go about that, but I want to talk to my advisor about it later today. I'll get back to you guys on that ASAP.

Not a lot of that whole knitting thing has been happening. I'm afraid I have carpal tunnel from Christmas, to be perfectly honest. I'm working on this thingy in very preppy pink and green. I'd look up the yarn but I'm lazy. It's from Jo Ann's and it's way too soft for it's own good. 25% wool, and seriously seriously seriously soft. Typing seriously three times was really annoying just now.
